WTC is a Center for Independence program that believes people with disabilities can achieve success in the workplace when they have the right supports and opportunities. WTC provides individualized job development, support and advocacy, resource guidance, and social events.

Our Vision

Despite the fact that the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed 1990, people with disabilities still struggle to access employment. More than 75% of people with disabilities are un/under employed, and many live in poverty because of over-reliance on governmental support.

Working Together Chicago is convinced that the way to bridge the current employment gap is by working together across sectors with the common goal of generating new approaches that re-imagine what is possible!

Meet Our Board President & Executive Director

BOARD PRESIDENT
CLAYTON P. KALWEIT 

Clayton joined the Board in August 2013. His professional career focuses on managing operations related to Real Estate Development, Security, and Environmental Safety and Medical Services. He is a native of the Chicago area and a graduate from the University of Southern California - Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles. As a Board member, Clayton wishes to raise awareness for the Center and children with physical disabilities through outreach programs and fundraising efforts. Clayton is also a Center parent, with his youngest son attending the Conductive Education program in Lake Zurich. Clayton's wife, Megan, is an active member of the Center's Fundraiser Committee.

JOSEPHINE A. BOGGS | MS-OTR/L 

Josephine is the Executive Director of the Center for Independence. She previously served as its Clinical Director. An experienced occupational therapist, Josephine brings deep clinical expertise, a strong commitment to family-centered care, and a proven track record of program leadership to her role guiding the Center’s mission and growth.

CHARLIE O'MALLEY

Since 2009, Charlie has been supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He has built a career focused on advocacy, program development, and creating meaningful opportunities. His background spans recreation, high school transition programs, and adult services, providing a well-rounded perspective on the needs of those he serves.

As Program Manager, Charlie oversees program operations, fosters strong relationships with participants and community partners, and leads initiatives that promote inclusion, independence, and successful outcomes. He is committed to expanding opportunities and helping individuals achieve their personal and professional goals.

LENA BROCKWAY

Lena is a Cook County native and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As an Employment Specialist, she brings a people-focused and proactive approach to her work. Known for her positive outlook and energetic personality, she is passionate about supporting individuals in achieving meaningful employment while helping them build confidence and independence.
